The BYC Youth Sailing Program offers 5-day training camps of approximately 5 hours of instruction each day. Some classroom time is required, but most of the instruction takes place on the water in small El Toro and DeWitt 8’ sailing dinghies.
Each day of the camp is an introduction to sailing for those with little or no small boat sailing experience. The classes cover the parts of the boat, rigging, and the basic elements of boat handling and seamanship.
PLEASE NOTE: As of April 1, 2014, Enrollment is now OPEN!!
SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE: There are scholarships available. Do not be left out of sailing camp. Scholarship application here: 2014 Scholarship Application
Participants who successfully complete the training camp will be able to rig and sail a dinghy on a protected body of water in light to moderate winds. For many youth, this is a very positive experience and the highlight of their summer, as well learning the basics of sailing, the joy of being on the water, and acquisition of water safety.
