Annually, sailboat racing at BYC begins in early April, and continues on each Thursday evening through September with few exceptions. The Thursday races are referred to as, “Beer Can Races” and are held near BYC on the Carquinez Strait.
Thursday Night Beer Can Racing – LIVE STREAMING!
We are attempting to do live streaming Thursday, 27 September 2017, from the boat, “Sail la Vie”. Please be patient/forgiving; this is a work-in-progress project. To watch, if the system will work for us tonight, you will need to use a program called “VLC”, which is available for any device. Go to Apple app-store or Google Play, or to the vlc.com website to download and install.
Then, open/start VLC, open a “network stream” at this location:
I know that’s complicated. Next step is to have it working with various web browsers.

The Beer Can Race entry form, rules, and periodic results can be downloaded in PDF format on the left column of this template. The races have become a tradition at BYC, and are enjoyed by members and non-members of all ages. You are encouraged to participate.
Also, a major racing event for BYC and many other clubs, which includes 100 plus racing sailboats, is the Annual Jazz Cup. This is a spirited and competitive racing event which spans the San Francisco Bay waterway and near BYC, where food, music and dance are enjoyed by all. What fun!!
